Steve Maytum and crew out today on another flat, calm sea with a lovely warm, sunny day.
We left the marina at 6.00am and headed out to our marks. Got settled and had a couple of skate straight away so, it was a good start.
As the day progressed we had lots of fish; skate up to 10lbs, lots of small hounds, one bass of 5lb and 100 million dogfish so, plenty to keep us busy.
After a good days fishing we got back to the marina lock only to find that the boat had no reverse gear. It caused a bit of a problem. Once back in the berth we had a look. A hydraulic pipe had come loose and discharged all the oil out into the bilges so I’ll need to get it fixed ready for the weekend.
Fishing photo’s are posted in the Gallery on the main web site
Bloody boats, who would have them.
Cheers guys for a great day.
All the best,
Skipper Steve

Charlie and his crew out today with another flat calm sea.
We set off to our marks and arrived with a bit of flood tide left, so we started fishing and the dogfish would not leave us alone. Then the tide started to ebb and we managed a few skate and some more dogs.
It was not as busy as the last couple of days so they must be moving off the ground.
Well done to Dan on catching a nice thornback of eleven and a half pounds.
Cheers lads for another great day and a good laugh – see you next month.

Mark Slater’s crew out today – after those skate. Another lovely day with a flat sea and nice and hot.
After an hour and a half steam out we dropped the hook and it wasn’t long before we were catching skate at regular intervals.
In between catching skate we did manage a nice smoothound of 9lb which was nice to see so early in the year. Let’s hope it’s going to be a good season.
As the tide eased back the fishing slowed right down so it was on with the kettle for a nice cup of tea and then we set off for home.
With more skate to skin on the way home I think Mark was knackered I know I was just from watching him.

Thanks for a great day lads, hope to see you all soon.
All the best,
Skipper Steve

Friday 23rd April
Customers of PlumbFix fishing trip day out.
As I work for Plumb-fix UK Ltd we decided that it would be good to look after our customers and treat those who wanted a free days fishing experience funded by our suppliers.
This trip was funded by Primaflow from where we buy our copper fittings. Our many thanks to Primaflow for their support.
On our trip today was George, Ian, Graeme, Terry, Steve, Colin and Nigel.
Well, we picked a cracking day to fish. The sea was flat and the sun was at its finest. We set off at 8.00am with a nice steam out, dropped the anchor and I got everyone set up. Colin was the first to get into a skate but it came off on the suface. Oh, well never mind!
Then Nigel hit a fish. It was nodding awaynicely and it was a cod of 6lb. Not a bad start with plenty of skate coming up at regular intervals. After a good haul of skate in only a short period it was time to head home

I hope you all enjoyed it guys?

Mark Knight’s crew on today and what another cracking day – flat, calm and sunshine all day with, thankfully, no fog.
So off we set, at 6am, out to our marks about an hour and a half away.
We got anchored up and started catching small hounds and dogs over the low water mark.
As the tide picked up we started to get the skate again. We managed another twenty odd skate again today so, a good days fishing.
A young lad called Connor came with us today to show his dad how its done. He had four skate and his dad only caught one so well done to him.
Mark left it to the last cast of the day to produce a fine looking bass of 6lb – jammy or what?
So with a tally of over 20 skate a few hounds lots of dogs and a nice bass it was anther good day out. Pictures in the Gallery Area on the main website.
Thanks for a great day -and hope you all enjoyed the sausage sandwiches.
See you in May for smoothounds.
All the best,
Skipper Steve
