Thursday 25th February – Fishing Trip

Hi guys.

Well, back out again this evening.

Not a very nice evening; it rained hard and blew quite hard. We didn’t go vey far tonight though because as we caught nothing much last week we decided to give it a couple of weeks before having another look up at Thames Port.

So, we had a go at trying to catch some flounders as we had a few years ago. We had nice bit of flood tide but nothing apart from crabs. So after a little while we moved back into some deeper water and still nothing apart from crabs. One good pointer to better fishing is that the water temperature is up to 6 degrees, so it is gradually getting better for the fish. Things are looking up. I’m not out this weekend or next Thursday so will report back after next weekends fishing trips.

All the best,

Skipper Steve

Sunday 21st Febuary – Fishing News

Hi guys. Well, no change out there today apart from the weather.

We tried a few different spots which were a bit closer to home and did manage to catch two very small dabs. At our last spot, on the first of the flood, Steve had a typical cod bite. It pulled his anchor weight out and started nodding. We got the fish onboard and it was a codling of 4lb.

We thought things were looking up after that bite – but nothing.

Then, I don’t now how it happened, Steve threw his uptiding rod and reel straight over the side. Would you have credited it – two rods and reels in two days. It was gutting for the anglers.

We’re not out fishing next weekend. Hopefully things will improve for the start of March.

I will still be fishing on Thursday evenings.

All the best,

Skipper Steve

Saturday 20th February – Fishing News

Hi guys. Well what a day. The weather was in our favour so too the tide.

As it was such a nice day I decided to leave at 6am.

It was a bit of a mixed crew of regulars so they knew what they were in for.

Knowing that it was very, very quiet out there I opted for a long steam out taking us about 1hr 45min to do 26miles. We got anchored up. A few hours passed and we did not even have a bite. Then adrian decided he would throw his nice uptiding rod and newish ‘Abu 7000′ over the side. He was not happy.

It got to one o’ clock and we had still not had a bite so we headed home.

Well, after sausage sandwichs, lots of tea and a lovely day; thanks guys for coming out and having a go.

Not sure what I’m going to do, however, I know the guys still want to go and try no matter what.

At least you won’t get any bull on this blog with made up stories of how great things are. If I were you guys, who want to book up, I would leave it till March/April because the water is still very cold. It needs to warm up a bit before the fish start to come on again.

All the best,

Skipper Steve

Thursday 18th Febuary – Fishing Experience

Sorry its been so long, however the boat is now ready and back in the water.

We knew it had been hard out at sea but my Thursday evening crew couldn’t wait to get back out fishing. So my Thursday evenings started today. We left at 5.30pm at the usual time and up to the Thames Port to fish up there as well as give the boat a bit of a run. We started fishing and not even a nibble. We tried lugworm and squid and… nothing.

I started cooking plenty of sausages and bacon with hot tea as well. All was good with the world. I suddenly heard a cheer from outside and Mike had actually caught a small bass. He saved us from a complete blank. Then, another cheer and Adrian had caught a dab. Two fish. Things are getting better. Mike managed another dab but then it was time to head back into port.

It was nice to be back out at sea fishing again. We have a good laugh on these evening trips. So even if we’re not catching fish its still good to be out there.

See you guys next week. Hopefully it can only get better as the weeks go by.

All the best,

Skipper Steve

Annual “Fish Off”

3rd February 2010

This event has been postponed. Due mainly to the lack of fish out there at the moment. As you can appreciate I want it to be a great day with plenty of action and decent scoring all round, so it will be rearranged for a different day.

All participants will be notified in good time.

All the best,

Skipper Steve
