Thursday 12 November

Thursday 12th November

Tonight was a blowy evening so we decided not to go out to far.

We anchored opposite Gillingham Pier while it was raining hard and blowing strongly.

We got out our baits and, with a nice bit of flood tide, it wasn’t long before we had our first whiting.

While I was cooking bacon and sausage rolls, there were whitings everywhere. One guy was even catching them three at a time.

By 9.30pm is was time to head in. We must of had over 100 whitings between seven anglers. So, plenty of fish not too far from the marina we came out of. So plenty of fishing time too.

See you next Thursday evening guys.

All the very best,

Skipper Steve

Unprecedented – Tuesday Fishing Experience

Tuesday 10th November

Another day out at sea and a very nice day it was too.

We left the marina at 6.30am with a foggy start that continued all the way out into the Thames.

We arrived at our fishing marks nice and early ready for the ebb tide. First casts out saw a couple of codlings around 4lb.

It stayed steady all day with codlings/whitings/dogs and dabs coming on board.

Kevin had the most codling today and also dropped a few on the way up. Though he showed the other guys how it’s done.

Plenty of cod & chips going around tonight lads; hope you enjoy them.

Well the codlings have now turned up in numbers no big ones but all between 3lb and 6lb so, not a bad stamp of fish.

There are a couple of photos in the main web site gallery of today’s catches.

Hope you enjoyed the day guys? See you on the next one.

All the best, Steve

Monday 9th November

Monday 9th November

A new crew today from Gravesend – Melvin and company.

Wind a bit more in the north today. It was just right; straight out to the marks hoping to get some cod. As soon as the anchor went down, we were catching codlings. So, a good start. Melvin thought he had caught the biggest of the day which was a cod of 5lb but he failed to hook.

There is a picture of him in the main gallery.

We had a good ebb tide so we were hoping for a good flood tide and, yes, it did happen – with more cod.

All the the cods we caught were between 3lb and 5lb and all caught on whole squid.

Hope you enjoyed the day lads. See you again soon. Remember to bring some more sausages and bacon – they were delicious.

all the best,

Steve

Marks crew on board today, with the weather not looking too good. Wind SE 4/5 knots.

With a couple of hours left of the ebb tide, after I had a look out through garrison point I turned straight around. With a swell big enough to lift us out of the water I knew it was not going to be comfortable.

So we decided to shelter in the river Medway catching whitings and dogfish. I knew that once the tide started to flood we could get out into the Thames.

We got out there and got settled and its right what they say, “Wind in the East, fish bite the least.”

With just whitings and dogs but no codlings. So, with a bit of banter between myself and James I decided to get my rod out.

Jammy as I was, I caught a cod second cast so that put a stop to that and I put my rod away.

Its great to have a laugh throughout the day. But James, ‘I do hope you catch a cod in the competition because I’m depending on you.’

All the best,

Steve
