Adrians crew out today and the weather they gave was NE – 15mph. So I knew if we left at 7.00am we would not get out into the estuary. I rang Adrian and told him I wanted to go at 4.00am he nearly passed out but what a good move it was.

We got anchored up with a nice bit of flood tide and were straight into the cod. We had 14 cod in just 3 hours, then it slowed as the tide eased off.

As I thought, once the tide started to ebb it would get too rough for us but we had done our bit.

The cod we had were between 4lb and 13lb.

Barry caught the 13lb cod on whole squid and I managed to chuck out a rod too and got one of 9 lb.

Thanks for getting up so early lads but I think you were happy with what you took home.

All the best

Skipper Steve
