Sunday 6th December
Mark Knights crew out today for the maritime cup which is a cod only competition.
Cod, only over 5lb, are to be weighed in.
So, an early start today away at 3.30am. Wwe headed out to our chosen mark and the wind blowing 35 knots – southerly.
As you can imagine it was rough but we stuck it out for 3 hours of the ebb tide and managed to get some codlings between 5lb and 6lb so contenders – a good start. Headed back for a bit of shelter and we had another codling first cast of 5lb. Then waited for it to start to flood. We managed a skate and a couple more codlings then it was time to head back in to get to the Hastings Arms pub to see how we got on.
Yes, it was our lucky day. John Powney, on my boat, got the best bag of cod and I got ‘BEST SKIPPER’ so a preety good day.
Thanks for taking part lads
All the best ‘Best Skipper Steve 2009′
