Saturday 13th March – Fishing Trip
Ian’s crew were out today; cracking day weather wise.
I gave the crew the option to go or not because of how it’s been with the lack of fish out there. I asked them if they wanted to change their day as it was not a problem. Ian sent me an email saying that they didn’t mind and that it would just be nice to get out on the water.
So, off we went. We put the anchor down after punching the tide out and yes, it was a slow flood with only 1 small codling 2 small whitings; not great. Had a move for the ebb tide and caught quite a few whitings; not exactly great fishing but a vast improvement finally.
Still, Ian kept me busy all day cooking 32 sausages and 42 rashers of bacon so the crew were full up by the end of the session.
I spoke with a few mates who are fishing on dinghies further out and are launching from Margate. They have caught quite a lot of cod and skate so they are on their way.
The tides are good for us next weekend so I hope the weather holds up and I can get down there and get the crews some decent fish.
I haven’t put a report on for Thursday evening because we never had a bite and an injector pipe blew on me on the way out so it was a very expensive evening out for me.
All the best,
Skipper Steve
